Sore ini ada notifikasi di laman Facebook saya (FB. Heri Akhmadi) yang masuk melalui Grup Facebook “CU-ASEAN Scholarship Alumni”. Notifikasi itu berkaitan dengan informasi yang diposting oleh Ms.Nangfha Valentine, atau dikenal oleh para grantee ASEAN Scholarship sebagai “Pi Ting” yang juga sebagai admin dari grup ini. Beliau adalah Person in Charge (PIC) beasiswa ASEAN di almamater saya Chulalongkorn University Thailand. Jadi hampir semua penerima beasiswa ASEAN di Chula pasti kenal dengan beliau.

Lantas apa yang Pi Ting posting?…tidak lain adalah apa yang menjadi topik dari tulisan saya kali ini. Yaitu mengenai pembukaan beasiswa studi satu semester di Chulalongkorn University Thailand atau dalam versi resminya bernama “Chulalongkorn University’s One-Semester Scholarship Programme for ASEAN or Non-ASEAN Countries”.

Pada dasarnya beasiswa kuliah satu semester atau kita dulu mengenalnya sebagai “beasiswa exchange study” ini bukan hal yang baru, dulu sewaktu saya kuliah (2013-2015) juga ada teman-teman mahasiswa Indonesia yang kuliah satu semester di Chula. Namun yang membedakan pada tahun ini adalah, beasiswa ini terbuka untuk mahasiswa dari semua jenjang S1/S2/S3 bahkan bagi dosen/peneliti dan tenaga kependidikan. Jadi peluang ini terbuka untuk semua mahasiswa termasuk dosennya dan staf akademik di kampus.

Detail Beasiswa

Lantas apa bagaimana dengan detail beasiswanya?…secara detail tercantum pada lampiran file yang diposting oleh Pi Ting. Berikut ini detail beasiswa, mulai dari fasilitas, biaya yang ditangguang dan juga persyaratan serta deadline aplikasinya. Termasuk juga formulir pendaftaran dan berkas yang perlu disiapkan. Disini sengaja saya copy paste versi aslinya (berbahasa Inggris), sehingga saya tidak menambahkan penafsiran ataupun terjemahan. Term of the Scholarships:

The home university must permit its students to spend one whole semester in the programme, but not more than 4 months, at Chulalongkorn University.

Provisions of the Scholarships:

The scholarships will cover the following:

1. An economy class, round-trip ticket, as actually paid. It should also be noted that, (1# For students from ASEAN, the airfare of each leg of the trip must not exceed 8,500 Baht;  2# For students from Asian countries, the airfare of each leg of the trip must not exceed 12,000 Baht; 3# For students from Europe, Australia and New Zealand as well as Africa, the airfare ofeach leg must not exceed 20,000 Baht; 4# For students from North and South America, the airfare of each leg must not exceed 30,000 Baht.Students are required to pay for their tickets and this amount will be reimbursed upon their arrival at Chulalongkorn University.
2. A monthly stipend and accommodation in the amount of 16,000 Baht
3. Tuition fees (Fees/special fees charged by the Faculty or the Programme of the student choice are excluded.  Advanced arrangement between the students and the Faculty/Programme is needed).

Eligibility of Applicants:

1. Applicants must be undergraduate students who are studying for a Bachelor’s degree, or graduate students in the Master’s degree/Doctoral degree programmes, faculty members, researchers or academic staff.
2. Once having been granted with the scholarships, the applicants are required to enroll, at Chulalongkorn University, for 12 credits for the undergraduates and 6 credits for the graduates. The subjects the applicants enroll on should correspond to their Major or Minor.
3. Applicants must have a good command of English.
4. Applicants must be in good health.

Documents Required for Application:

1. A completed application form with a 1-inch photograph attached,
2. A nomination letter from the home institution,
3. An official academic transcript, issued by the institution the applicant is currently attending),
4. A photocopy of the applicant’s passport

Application Procedures and Period:

1. Applicants must send the completed application form and relevant documents directly to the Faculty/Programme of their choice.  The Office of Academic Affairs will not accept direct applications from applicants.
2. Applicants must be screened and accepted by the Faculty/Programme of their choice before their names are forwarded the Office of Academic Affairs, Chulalongkorn University. All relevant application documents which have been screened by the Faculty/Programme must arrive at the Office of Academic Affairs no later than October 31, 2019.

It should be noted that each Faculty/Programme sets its own application deadline and selection schedule of the applicants. Applicants should send their application form and relevant documents to the  Faculty/Program of their choice at least 2 weeks prior to the deadline set by the University’s Office of  Academic Affairs.

Conditions of Scholarships:

1. The scholarship period cannot be extended.
2. The recipients are not permitted to accept any employment in Thailand during the term of their scholarships.
3. The recipients are not permitted to postpone a period of the scholarship acceptance as proposed by Chulalongkorn University.
4. The recipients must residence in Thailand during the scholarship period

In case of the scholarship recipient whishes to leave Thailand during the semester, he/she has to inform the University of his/her departure through the Advisor where he/she is studying and the advisor must give assurance that his/her absence will not interrupt his/her studies. Once the request is approved by the University, the scholarship recipient will be able to depart. In this regard, the University will not be responsible for the airfare. If his/her absence is more than 10 days, he/she will not be entitled to the living allowance for the month (s) of his/her absence.

Health insurance :

Chulalongkorn University has a health service center facility. However, foreign students must have comprehensive health insurance policy to cover medical services in case of serious  illness requiring hospitalization.  If not, all medical expenses incurred will be borne by recipients.

Suspension and termination of  scholarships :

These scholarships will be suspended or terminated for the following reasons:

1. Serious illness of recipients. The recipient is deemed to be seriously ill and not physically fit to carry on with his/her studies.

2. Absence of recipients. Student departs Thailand for over 10 days without the consent of his/her academic Advisor and approved by the University
